I know I mentioned that the last Fast Lane newsletter was going to be the final one… but after the Canadian Grand Prix, I just had to share this.

It felt like one of those momentous sporting moments that carries a much bigger leadership lesson underneath it.

I also have one more idea I’d like to share next week, so there are actually 2 bonus editions…

And maybe I’ll just randomly post in the future as I get new inspiration.

WHAT FORMULA ONE CAN TEACH ENTREPRENEURS

Never Write Off Great Talent

First of all… What a day at the Canadian Grand Prix!

Kimi Antonelli winning again is seriously impressive. The kid is talented, calm under pressure & clearly built for the big stage. Watching young talent rise that quickly is exciting.

But the moment that really stood out to me was Lewis Hamilton finishing second for Ferrari.

Because this wasn’t just another podium.

This was his best finish since joining Ferrari.

And if you’ve followed Formula 1 this season, you’ll know plenty of people had already written him off.

Too old.

Past his peak.

Wrong move.

Ferrari chaos.

Career over.

Sound familiar?

Business owners do this all the time too.

We write people off too quickly. We assume someone’s best years are behind them. We mistake a difficult season for permanent decline. We forget that even the best drivers in the world need the right environment, the right support & the right team around them.

What I loved most was Hamilton’s response after the race.

He didn’t make it about himself.

He talked about the team.

The collaboration. The work happening behind the scenes. The people pulling together.

That’s leadership.

Not ego. Not blame. Not finger-pointing.

Just focus, persistence & belief.

There’s a huge lesson here for leadership teams.

Sometimes your business isn’t broken.

Sometimes your people aren’t the problem.

Sometimes the team simply hasn’t clicked yet.

In EOS®, we often talk about getting the right people in the right seats. But even the right people need time to build trust, rhythm & confidence together.

A Formula 1 car doesn’t win because of one driver.

It wins because hundreds of people align around a common vision.

Same in business.

Also, as a Brit who loves Lewis Hamilton & absolutely loves Ferrari – this felt like a pretty good day all round.

Oh. And one final thing – my new book, “The Fast Lane: Building a Business That Wins. Stop firefighting. Build the machine. Start winning.”, will be out soon.

If you’d like to receive a copy hot off the press as soon as it’s published, send me an email at debra@chantrybusinessaction.com.au & I’ll make sure a copy gets out to you.

The real breakthroughs often occur not when a single person works harder, but when the right team finally gets in the car together.
