When I was a youngster growing up in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand, I was surrounded by show people, actors, comedians, radio announcers and MC’s who had really interesting stories to tell and just wanted to love life and have fun.

As a six year old, that sounded pretty cool so I decided then, that I would follow in the footsteps of my father and grandfather into radio broadcasting and show business.

To tell stories and have fun.

But about the age of nine, I developed a stutter. You know that complete loss of power when you open your mouth to speak.

It was horrid, lining up at the tuck shop at school, C-c-c-could I-I-I get a m-m-meat pie. You get the gist right?

My mother was the calming voice who said, maybe you’re not born to be a presenter?

But I was determined.

I met a woman called Carol and she showed me the path of building my confidence on stage and she helped me with speech and drama, voice classes and acting classes to help my voice, diction and confidence.

Then 8 years later. No stutter.

My first job in radio was at ZM in Christchurch. I went on to work around NZ & Australia for 10 years on radio at stations like The Breeze, Hauraki, The Hits and Newstalk ZB.

I’ve worked as an actor, MC, announcer, newsreader and commercial voice over artist.

For more than 25 years.

So I understand how difficult it is to front up in front of an audience and do your thing.

I’ve been there.

And I want to help you with your confidence and competence behind a microphone, on a stage or in front of a camera.
